“A bike! A bike! My kingdom for a bike!”
The Handlebards are coming to Monkey Park in Chesterfield for a performance on Thursday 30th June 2016 at 7pm, doors open 6.30 – Pay what you can.
Described by none other than Sir Ian McKellen as “uproariously funny”, the four-strong all-male HandleBards present Shakespeare’s plays as you’ve never seen them before – fast-paced, irreverent and bicycle-powered.
Since 2013, the HandleBards have pedalled over 5000 miles across the world, carrying all their set, props and costumes on just four bicycles. On Thursday June 30th 2016 they’re stopping off at Monkey Park on Chester St, Brampton, Chesterfield S40 1DN to perform their rip-roaring production of Richard III. Expect a “gloriously eccentric and very, very funny” night, delivered on eight very sore legs.
No tickets required, it’s a ‘pay what you can’ performance with a collection at the end. Monkey Park cafe will be open before the event and during the interval.
The Handlebards are cycling hundred’s of miles on this year’s tour. Please support them by arriving by bicycle or on foot. Monkey Park has a bike workshop too! There is very limited vehicle parking at the venue. If you have to arrive by car please park in the car park at the top of Goldwell Hill and walk down.
A rug and appropriate clothing could be useful!
